I recently build an Out-of-Band (OOB) management network for Utrecht University with Moxa Terminal servers (CN2610-16-2AC).
The Moxa Terminal servers had all RJ45 (serial) ports. However, connecting it with a normal network cable, a cross-cable cable or a Rollover cable didn’t work.
I found the pinout and made a drawing of it in case you ever need it:)
For your information: Cisco and HP doesn’t have DCD (Data Carrier Detect) on the console port.
Here is the full reference table:
SIGNAL | DEFINITION | DIRECTION |
RTS | Request To Send | Output |
DSR | Data Set Ready | Input |
DCD | Data Carrier Detect | Output |
RXD | Receive Data | Input |
TXD | Transmit Data | Output |
GND | Signal Ground | NA |
DTR | Data Terminal Ready | Output |
CTS | Clear To Send | Input |
I have MOXA PT-7728 that is locked out of website by config mistake (via website config).
I haven’t found the console pinout for this particular model, but found serial port pinouts for some other similar moxa devices (with 10 pin RJ same as PT-7728) and they also happen to align with the OP image 8 pin variant.
I verified the Tx and GND pin with a meter and connected only Tx, Rx and GND to a known working USB-to-DB9 (Trendnet TU-S9) converter.
PT-7728 man says 115200 8N1 that is what I tried and no results. No response to any input.

thank you for sharing.
we have a moxa nport 6650-16
